After community bankers convened in Washington this month for Capital Summit, ICBA noted the inclusion of a modified version of the Access to Credit for our Rural Economy Act (ACRE - S. 838) in the House version of the reconciliation bill (H.R. 1) and urged senators to include ACRE in its version of reconciliation. The reconciliation bill will be the legislative vehicle for the administration’s tax relief efforts.
Lobbying Success: After more than 500 community bankers lobbied during Capital Summit and more than 1,000 community bankers have sent letters to Capitol Hill on ICBA’s top legislative issues:
13 Senate and 68 House co-sponsors have been added to important pieces of legislation, including 48 added to ICBA-advocated legislation to limit mortgage trigger lead solicitations and 20 to the ACRE Act.
A modified version of the ACRE Act was included in the House version of the tax bill.
Senate Grassroots Push: ICBA is urging community bankers to use its Be Heard Grassroots Action Center to ask senators to cosponsor S. 838 and preserve and expand ACRE in the reconciliation tax bill.
Key Priority: Support for farmers and rural America is a key platform of ICBA’s “Repair, Reform, and Thrive” legislative plan, open letter to the 119th Congress, and list of top lobbying issues for Capital Summit.
