ICBA Past Chairman Jim Ghiglieri dies

ICBA Past Chairman Jim Ghiglieri died Saturday morning. The former president of Alpha Financial Group in Toluca, Ill., served as ICBA chairman in 2007-2008.

A third-generation community banker, Ghiglieri was long active with ICBA. In addition to serving as ICBA chairman, Ghiglieri served on many ICBA committees and on the ICBA Securities board, co-chaired ICBA’s Hurricane Katrina Task Force, and chaired the association’s Credit Union Task Force.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Ghiglieri also was past president and former director of the Community Bankers Association of Illinois and chaired several key committees. His community activities included serving the Toluca Park District, the Toluca Business Association, the Toluca Rotary Club, and the Upper Illinois River Valley Development Authority.

Ghiglieri’s survivors include his wife, Mary Kay; his three children, Jim Ghiglieri, Matthew Ghiglieri, and Kristin Parrick; eight grandchildren; sisters Cathy Ghiglieri and Carol Winchester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for 4-7 p.m. (Central time) tomorrow, Dec. 13, at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Toluca. Additional visitation is scheduled for 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Ann’s, followed by a funeral mass and burial at 10:30 a.m.

ICBA expresses its deepest condolences to Ghiglieri’s family and gratitude for his tireless service on behalf of the nation’s community banks. ICBA will long remember Jim for his dedication to this industry, his constant smile, and his genuine care and compassion for all who were lucky enough to call him a friend.
