After four weeks as interns at ICBA, we have continued to have new and exciting experiences together which have all felt valuable to our time here.
As we grow comfortable in our own departments, we have used our time to develop our skills through meaningful and challenging projects.
We have also continued to prepare for our futures, and with help from Humaira during our Weekly HR Meeting about Interviewing Skills, we have discussed behavioral interviews, building résumés, and more. Our projects and developmental sessions have been incredibly helpful in shaping our futures after this summer, which we are all grateful for.
The first exciting event we participated in was the DC Office Summer Outing. We had an amazing time playing indoor putt-putt alongside our coworkers.
Also, this week, we met with Valerie Utsey at our Senior Leadership Lunch, where we asked about career advice and what she loves about ICBA. We had so much fun this week building relationships with others and strengthening the community we have formed at ICBA so far.
About Me:
I am currently a rising senior at the University of Virginia with a double major in Psychology and Anthropology. I am involved in the University Programs Council as the Vice Chair of Programming, where I organize and plan university funded events. This is my first internship, and I have been able to take aspects of both of my majors and apply them to my work in the marketing department this summer. I have really enjoyed meeting so many different people in different departments, as it is inspiring to see various roles that could be possibilities for my future.
Favorite part so far:
One thing that I have learned so far is the importance of community within the workplace. Within the MARCOM department and in ICBA as a whole, I have grown to appreciate all the time I spend with those around me, as there is always an opportunity
to learn new and unexpected skills.
