February 2020 - Online Training Newsletter

Get More from Your Online Training Subscription

You already know that your online training subscription allows you to assign, track, and manage your employees’ federally-mandated training, but did you know that you can also use this platform to create greater job satisfaction, reduce employee turnover, and nurture talent in your bank?

94% of employees say they would stay at a company longer if it invested in their learning and development. - 2019 LinkedIn Learning Report

Complex problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, people management, and emotional intelligence play a huge role in the workplace. In fact, these so-called “soft skills” are often predictors of career success and leadership potential.

As a reminder, your online training subscription includes courses such as Communicating as a Team, Change Management, and Empowering Your People that can help you build a stronger, more cohesive team and show your staff that you value their career growth.

Talk to your employees and their supervisors and find out what they are interested in, where their strengths and weaknesses lie, and consider enrolling them in some courses outside of the norm.

Take a look at the course listing for a quick list or peruse the course catalog for more detail.

What’s New?

On Feb. 19, Community Banker University updated two of the courses in the Bank Security Catalog with new content and functionality. Employees who are currently enrolled in either course can continue taking the courses as the content is not incorrect.

All new enrollments will receive new content.

If you would like currently enrolled employees who have not yet completed the course to receive the new content, you will need to manually unenroll them from the course and then enroll them in the course again.

The two affected courses are:

  • Physical Information Security
  • Workstation Security for Bank Employees (now renamed to Workstation Security Essentials for Bank Employees)
Note to Compliance Bundle Subscribers: Workstation Security Essentials for Bank Employees is included with your bundle of available courses. As noted above, current enrollees in the course can complete it as the information is not incorrect or you can choose to unenroll them from the course and re-enroll them in the updated version.

Note to Custom Plan Subscribers: NEW - Workstation Security Essentials for Bank Employees allows you to upload your bank’s policies and procedures. Physical Information Security already had this capability.

Note to Premium Plan Subscribers: If you have either of the two courses listed above in any of your certifications, please swap them out at your earliest convenience.

We also updated our very popular course “Understanding UDAAP” with new content on Feb. 24, 2020

Updates include:
  • Expanded details on what constitutes an unfair, deceptive, or abusive act or practice.
  • New examples of real-life violations for UDAAP.
  • Updated exam questions.
No work is required on the part of the LMS Administration for this new course content. New enrollments in the course will receive the new course content. Any learner who is already enrolled but has not yet started the course, will ALSO receive the new content.

What's Coming

Amendments to the Regulation CC funds availability thresholds become effective July 1, 2020. Regulation CC - In Depth & Overview courses will be updated and launched on June 3, 2020.

Did You Know?

Did you know that if an employee leaves the bank, but is later rehired that you must reactive their old account to enroll them in online training?

To do so, simply follow the instructions in the “LMS Administrator creating new account” section of the Administrator Guide beginning on page 6. Complete steps 1-8. Duplicate records should be found (step #10) and the following screen will appear:

If the matching name appears in the “Accounts Found” box, you must determine if this is the correct person. If you are absolutely, 100% sure this is the person, click Edit This Individual and change all of the appropriate fields to match their current position at your bank. After editing, click the Save button.

Following these procedures will ensure that you reset the employee account correctly and do not create a duplicate account. When in doubt about reactivating an employee, please feel free to reach out to a Community Banker University team member.
