Banks have historically high capital ratios l, historically low problem assets and strong 2021 earnings. Yet, concerns about stress testing, AOCI, holdco debt-to-equity ratio, the inverted yield curve and potential recession as well as other issues are causing bankers and regulators to fundamentally reexamine the “C” in bank CAMELS-ratings and capital plans.
