Senior Associate Director for Consumer Protection & Supervision

Ben Olson serves as the senior associate director for Consumer Protection & Supervision in the Federal Reserve Board’s Division of Consumer and Community Affairs. In this role, he oversees the division’s consumer compliance supervision and enforcement program, including the functions related to bank applications, Reserve Bank oversight, examination policy, examiner training and commissioning, consumer complaints, fair lending, unfair and deceptive acts and practices (UDAPs), and the Community Reinvestment Act.

Olson has almost two decades of experience working on consumer protection issues at federal agencies and in the private sector. Before taking his current position, he previously served as the head of Global Card Compliance for Capital One, as a partner at the law firm Buckley LLP, and in a variety of policymaking, rulewriting, and enforcement roles at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Federal Reserve Board, and Federal Trade Commission. 

Olson earned his JD from the Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor's degree in political science and English literature from Tulane University.
