With CFPB in spotlight, ICBA urging grassroots outreach on overdraft rule

With Washington focused on reforming the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, ICBA is calling on community bankers to tell their members of Congress to support legislative efforts to stop the bureau's overdraft rule.

With Washington focused on reforming the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, ICBA is calling on community bankers to tell their members of Congress to support legislative efforts to stop the bureau's overdraft rule.

Background: Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill (R-Ark.) recently introduced ICBA-supported Congressional Review Act resolutions to overturn the overdraft rule. S.J.Res. 18 and H.J.Res. 59 would invalidate the rule, which is set to cap overdraft fees at institutions with more than $10 billion in assets.

Advocacy: Community bankers can use ICBA’s Be Heard Grassroots Action Center to urge their members of Congress to support the resolutions.
