Wayne Miller is Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer at the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), where he leads end-to-end innovation strategy for community banks nationwide. He is known for connecting community banks and fintechs to deliver revenue-generating solutions that improve competitiveness, efficiency, customer experience, and profitability.
With more than four decades of leadership across financial services, fintech, healthcare, cybersecurity, and entrepreneurship, Wayne brings a blend of startup, scale-up, and Fortune 100 experience to ICBA’s innovation agenda. He is committed to helping community banks use technology to strengthen their role in local economies and improve customers’ financial lives.
As Chief Innovation Officer, Wayne oversees ICBA’s integrated innovation platform, including the ICBA ThinkTECH Accelerator, Solutions Forums, corporate membership and PSP initiatives, as well as educational efforts that help community bankers evaluate, implement, and scale technology partnerships. His work emphasizes practical, measurable outcomes in digital banking, payments, risk and compliance, data, and artificial intelligence.
Previously, Wayne served as Executive Director of The Venture Center, leading globally recognized fintech accelerators and helping prepare more than 100 fintechs for market through award-winning programs with ICBA and FIS. His background also includes CEO roles in a private equity–backed medical device company and co-founder/CEO of Admine.com, a venture-backed online advertising marketplace.
He has held senior roles at Deloitte and Proxicom as well as operating roles in transportation, logistics, and automotive services, building depth in sales, operations, and strategic partnerships. Across these roles, he has focused on developing high-performing teams and capital-efficient businesses that deliver strong returns.
Wayne is a general partner with BankTech Ventures and serves on several technology and cybersecurity boards, including Beauceron Security, Vero, Revio Insights, and Digital Storefront. He is active in banker and founder education as faculty at the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado and the Barret School of Banking and has taught entrepreneurship as an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland’s Smith School of Business.
An in-demand speaker and podcast guest on community bank innovation, fintech partnerships, and AI in banking, Wayne often describes community banks as the “vertebrae” of the U.S. financial system. He attended the University of Pittsburgh and resides in Bethany Beach, Delaware, while working nationally with community banks, technology partners, and industry stakeholders.
