Independent Banker Magazine Reveals 2026 “40 Under 40: Community Bank Leaders” List

June 01, 2026 / By ICBA

Washington, D.C. (June 1, 2026) — Independent Banker magazine, the award-winning monthly publication of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), announced its eighth annual 40 Under 40: Community Bank Leaders list, recognizing emerging leaders helping to shape the present and future of community banking through innovation, leadership, and service.

This year’s honorees represent a broad cross-section of emerging leaders who are streamlining operations, mitigating risk, championing customer education, and building strong community ties. Their work demonstrates how the next generation of community bank leaders is helping institutions adapt, grow, and better serve local communities.

“We commend this year’s honorees, who lead with integrity and ingenuity and create lasting community ties through relationship building and a spirit of service,” said ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey. “These forward-thinking bankers have found meaningful ways to serve their communities, strengthen their institutions, and make a meaningful difference in the communities they call home. Their accomplishments are worth celebrating and showcase the bright future of our industry.”

The June/July issue of Independent Banker features the honorees and highlights the themes shaping their work, including financial education, community engagement, professional development, technology leadership, operational efficiency, and customer service. The full list is available online at independentbanker.org.

Candidates were judged on character, leadership, community involvement, and innovation. This year’s program is sponsored by FIS, a global leader in financial services technology.
