The FDIC announced that its board will meet tomorrow to discuss proposed rules for merger transactions and state bank parity.
Details: The meeting is slated for 10 a.m. (Eastern time) tomorrow, Sept. 17, and will be open to the public via webcast.
Merger Policy Background: The FDIC board in March 2025 voted to rescind its 2024 Statement of Policy on Bank Merger Transactions and said it would reinstate the Merger Policy Statement that was in effect prior to 2024 as it conducted a broader reevaluation of its bank merger review process.
ICBA View: ICBA in 2024 told the FDIC that its bank merger review process requires significant revisions to be streamlined and equitable to community banks.
