Our Story

Independent Community Bankers of America® was founded in 1930 by a small group of community bankers in Minnesota. We have since grown to become the voice for thousands of community banks nationwide.

Today, ICBA represents the largest constituency of community banks in the country and is dedicated to protecting the interests of the community banking industry.  Our ability to organize members provides:

  • Powerful advocacy for community banking interests with policy makers and regulators.

  • Critical and timely community bank education.

  • Products and services that help give community banks a competitive edge.

    Hybrid Work Environment

    ICBA has adopted a flexible approach to work that will support in-office collaboration opportunities in the workspace while also supporting work successfully and productively at home. To support employees in our hybrid environment we provide a new hire Home Office stipend and a monthly Home Office stipend for all full-time employees.

    Relationships and connection are what transform a good job into a fantastic one. ICBA hosts a variety of opportunities to engage with your colleagues. Our offices provide staff events and clubs for those with shared interests to socialize and encourage one another.

    Our employees show their commitment as engaged citizens by giving their time, talents, and expertise to support a wide range of causes. Our employees use their interests and passion to assist and connect communities, lives, and families. We support these relationships and our staff by offering up to eight hours of paid volunteer time off per calendar year because we see their potential to change the world.

I feel so fortunate to work at ICBA. I am challenged but given the support and tools to succeed. There is a positive work environment that promotes work-life balance and community engagement.

So many perks- baseball games, employee outings, a gorgeous office, coffee bar, Summer Fridays and paid volunteer time but, more importantly the community bankers, colleagues and the mission.
