The Commerce Department downwardly revised its estimate for fourth-quarter gross domestic product growth from 1.4% to 0.7%. The decline from the 4.4% GDP increase in the third quarter is largely attributed to the government shutdown. The department’s third estimate for the fourth quarter is scheduled to be released April 9.
