Scholarships help foster future community bank leaders

Washington, D.C. (July 27, 2018)—The Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA) today announced the recipients of its 2018 NextGen Scholarship Awards. This year’s recipients will receive one of three scholarship types to fund their professional development and education. 

“The NexGen scholarships provide a pathway to help tomorrow’s leaders achieve their career aspirations as they refine their business acumen and seek innovative solutions to today’s business challenges,” ICBA Group Executive Vice President of Member Engagement and Strategy Chris Lorence said. “We are proud to support these deserving men and women in their professional journey as they continue to build on the strong and enduring legacy of community banking.”

Candidates at any career level from community banks of all asset sizes and charter types nationwide were eligible to apply for:

Award decisions were determined by a scholarship review panel based on candidates’ submitted essays and letters of recommendation from senior management at their bank. The 2018 ICBA NextGen Scholarship recipients are:

  • Barret Graduate School of Banking Scholarship: Stefanie Gulick, vice president and credit department manager, Ledyard National Bank in Hanover, N.H.
  • LEAD FWD Summit Scholarship: Angela Ledding, vice president, Northview Bank in Grand Rapids, Minn.
  • LEAD FWD Summit Scholarship: Sean Ulik, business development officer, Consumers National Bank in Canton, Ohio
  • Community Banker University Scholarship: Stacy Albers, Bank Secrecy Act oversight officer, First Bank & Trust in Sioux Falls, S.D.
