ICBA Committees Meet in Washington

Washington, D.C. (May 10, 2004) - It's spring! That means community bankers will be swarming all over Washington this week, as they converge on the city for the annual ICBA spring Joint Committee Meetings, held May 8-12, 2004 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Nearly 400 bank executives from nearly every state in the nation, serving on fourteen standing committees, will make their way to Washington to participate in the four-day meeting. The ICBA banking leadership will discuss critical issues facing the community banking industry.

On Tuesday, May 11, the bankers will travel to Capitol Hill to meet with their congressional representatives on issues affecting the banking industry, consumers, small businesses and agriculture.

"These joint committee meetings are vital to ICBA," said Dale L. Leighty, chairman of ICBA. "While the ICBA leadership is in constant communication throughout the year, we need these face-to-face meetings to solidify the best ways we can serve our fellow members, and protect and promote the interests of community banks nationwide."
