ICBA Promotes John Hand to Vice President of Congressional Relations
Washington, D.C. (May 24, 2012)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) today announced the promotion of John Hand to vice president of congressional relations. In this new position, Hand will take a leadership role in advocating community bank tax and regulatory relief issues on Capitol Hill.
“ICBA is thrilled to announce the promotion of John Hand to vice president,” said Paul Merski, ICBA executive vice president and chief economist. “John has the Hill experience and issue knowledge to help advance the community banking industry’s critical issues in Congress. He is a potent force for community bank advocacy in Washington, D.C., and we are glad to have him on the Congressional Relations team.”
Hand began his ICBA career in November 2007 as ICBPAC manager. He has since been promoted twice: first to ICBPAC associate director in 2009 and then to director of government affairs in 2011. Prior to joining ICBA, Hand served as a congressional aide to the current House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.).
Hand holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Georgetown University, where he is currently finishing a master’s degree in business administration.
