ICBA Welcomes Maryland Bankers Association as Newest State Community Banking Affiliate
Maryland Bankers Association Joins 43 Other
Washington, D.C. (February 23, 2009)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) is pleased to announce that the Maryland Bankers Association is joining 43 other state and regional community banking partners in affiliating with ICBA.
“ICBA welcomes the Maryland Bankers Association to its family of state and regional affiliates,” said Camden R. Fine, ICBA president and CEO. “Since ICBA is the nation’s voice for community banks, we are extremely pleased that Maryland’s community banks will be represented and that their voices will be heard on both a state and national level.”
Since it was founded in 1896, the Maryland Bankers Association (MBA) has served the state's financial services industry. It is the only Maryland-based professional trade group representing the state’s commercial banks and thrifts.
“As we look ahead to what will undoubtedly be one of the most crucial policy years in our industry's history, it is essential that we are serving our collective members in the most efficient and effective manner,” said Kathleen M. Murphy, president and CEO of the Maryland Bankers Association. “State association affiliation with ICBA will enable us to stay attuned to ICBA's priorities as well as give Maryland's perspective a greater voice within ICBA.”
