New Mexico Community Banker Named Chairman of ICBA Reinsurance Board of Directors
Washington, D.C. (July 31, 2009)—ICBA Reinsurance, the captive credit life insurance subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), today announced the election of Kent Carruthers, president of The Citizens Bank of Clovis, Clovis, NM, as chairman of the ICBA Reinsurance board of directors.

"Having served as volunteer executive director for the Independent Community Bankers Association of New Mexico (ICBANM) for several years, Kent demonstrated his tremendous ability to navigate and grow a vibrant state association. We look forward to witnessing that same strong leadership as he takes on his new role as chairman for the ICBA Reinsurance board.”
Carruthers has served on the ICBA Reinsurance board of directors since 2006. He also served on the ICBA board of directors for several years. His other leadership roles with ICBA include the Policy Development Committee and Regulation Review Committee. Additionally, he is a director of ICBANM.
Additionally, Carruthers is a past president of the Clovis Industrial Development Corp, where he was instrumental in economic development efforts for Clovis/Curry County. He was recognized for his work in 2000 when he received the Award for Outstanding Economic Development. In 2003, he was named Citizen of the Year of Clovis/Curry County.
Serving on the ICBA Reinsurance board with Carruthers are Melany Kniffen, chairman, Southern Commercial Bank, Saint Louis, Mo.; Jerry Walker, president and CEO, ICBANM, Aztec, N.M. and William Wood, chairman and president, Clearfield Bank & Trust Company, Clearfield, Penn.
