ICBA Bancard Celebrates 25 Years
Community Banks Offer Common-Sense Credit and Debit Programs to Local Customers
Orlando, Fla. (March 18, 2010)—ICBA Bancard, the nation's premier provider of payment services exclusively for community banks, is celebrating its 25th anniversary during the ICBA National Convention and Techworld, held in Orlando, Fla., from March 17-21.
“Over the past 25 years, ICBA Bancard has been an integral part of helping community banks offer common-sense debit and credit programs to their local customers,” said John Buhrmaster, chairman of ICBA Bancard and president and CEO of 1st National Bank, Scotia, N.Y. “ICBA Bancard’s success and growth is a testament not only to a lot of hard work by dedicated staff and industry advocates, but also to the invaluable efforts of our community bank partners and the value of the community banking model that relies on relationship banking.”
Originally formed to help level the playing field between local and national credit card issuers, ICBA Bancard is the 28th largest credit card issuer in the nation and the only issuer that exclusively represents community banks. Last year, ICBA Bancard processed 1,000 claims and recouped $500,000 for its community bank customers.
“Despite a rapidly changing marketplace, ICBA Bancard continues to support and advance community banks’ ability to offer their customers full-service payment options,” said Linda Echard, president and CEO of ICBA Bancard. “We are thrilled to celebrate ICBA Bancard’s 25th anniversary and look forward to the next 25 years of serving community banks with a wide range of common-sense products to offer their customers.”
