ICBA Debuts YouTube Video Series

Videos Educate Consumers on Popular Finance Topics and Benefits of Community Banking

Washington, D.C. (August 10, 2009)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) today debuted its first YouTube video series, titled “Money 101,” which aims to educate consumers on important financial topics such as making an offer on a home, saving money and fully using the services offered by the nation’s more than 8,000 Main Street community banks.

“ICBA looks forward to educating a wider and more diverse audience on the benefits of community banking and these timely consumer financial topics,” said Chris Lorence, ICBA senior vice president of marketing. “Common-sense community banks do business in cities and towns throughout America, and it’s important that customers of every age and demographic are aware of the superior service and trustworthy expertise that only a community bank can provide, often right outside their doorstep.”

The three-part video series is the first of several videos that ICBA plans to produce and disseminate through YouTube, the third-largest online search engine. The videos released today are based on the most researched consumer financial topics and are tagged with specific research terms so consumers can find them easily when searching for this information. Over 67 percent of consumers ages 24 to 44 use YouTube to research information about a financial topic or product.
