ICBA Online Education Program Tailored to Community Bank Directors

Online University Delivers Banking Education When and Where It's Needed

Washington, D.C. (Oct 1, 2007)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) in conjunction with Wolters Kluwer Financial Services announced the availability of the ICBA Bank Director Online University, a new educational program for bank directors. The program consists of access to 13 online courses covering diverse topics such as the Bank Secrecy Act, ethics, insurance, and equal employment opportunity, among others.

"Bank directors are often drawn from the business community at large," said Greg Martinson, ICBA senior vice president/director of Sauk Centre operations. "ICBA and Wolters Kluwer designed this program so that community banks can help their bank directors fully develop their leadership skills and the in-depth understanding of banking needed to help the communities they serve to thrive and move forward."

Online University is part of ICBA's expanding Bank Director Program which is designed for new and seasoned community bank board members so they can increase their knowledge and upgrade their skills. Because Online University is electronic and Internet based, participants train at their own pace even if they start and stop a module multiple times. The University's courses can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week and are available wherever there is an Internet connection.

ICBA is the only national trade association that tailors its educational programs exclusively to meet the needs of community bankers and their directors. ICBA certification programs are designed to raise the standards of professionalism in the industry. More than 2,000 community banking professionals have achieved ICBA certification in compliance, auditing, IT, lending, Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering and bank security.

ICBA has over 125 online courses available for banks to train their staff as well. Learn more about ICBA educational offerings, conference and certification programs by visiting www.icba.org.
