ICBA Independent Banker® Recognizes Top-Performing Lenders

Washington, D.C. (July 3, 2014)—In its July issue, ICBA Independent A Banker®, the award-winning magazine of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA) and the nation’s number-one source for community banking news, recognized nearly 450 community banks that have been highly successful at providing loans to individuals, families and small business in their communities.

“Along with safeguarding savings and processing payments, no function remains more fundamental to a community bank’s overall purpose and success than lending,” said Chris Lorence, ICBA executive vice president/chief marketing officer. “All relationship-based community lenders have strong customer service cultures. That, along with talent, motivation and honoring well-honed operational and strategic practices, often propels a community bank’s lending success in highly competitive marketplaces.”

Based on lending percentages that compared either their overall loans or their bank assets, the community banks that ICBA Independent Banker identified have demonstrated exceptional success at generating the most solid loans within the community banking industry.

ICBA Independent Banker identified the top 100 overall industry loan producers with the highest percentage of overall loans by dollar value to their total assets in 2013. The magazine also identified the top 50 lenders in seven specialty lending areas with the highest percentage of loans by dollar value in the corresponding loan category to their overall loan portfolio in 2013. The community banks recognized in all the listings were ICBA members in 2013 and earned a Kroll Bond Rating Agency rating of their financial-condition of C or higher.

Based on that industry data, ICBA spotlighted these community banks, including those serving seven particular lending categories extremely well:
