Agencies Issue Joint Statement on Hurricane Irma

Federal and state banking regulators said they will provide regulatory assistance to institutions affected by Hurricane Irma. The joint statement encourages bankers to work with borrowers in communities affected by the Category 5 storm, noting that prudent efforts will not be subject to examiner criticism and may earn Community Reinvestment Act consideration. The statement also discusses the effect on regulatory reporting and publishing requirements as well as the potential need for temporary banking facilities.
