Equifax Settles Consumer Side of Lawsuit

Equifax will pay up to $700 million in monetary relief and penalties to consumers under a settlement with federal and state regulators over its 2017 data breach.

The settlement includes up to $425 million in consumer relief and a $100 million civil money penalty.

It does not affect the bank lawsuit seeking compensation for community banks and improved security at the credit bureau.
