Citizens Bank of Edmond’s Heard on Hurd Sends Off Class of 2017 Graduates during May’s Festival

Bryce Merritt, Saint Loretto, Rozlyn Zora to Perform

Edmond, Okla. (May 2, 2017) – Citizens Bank of Edmond’s Heard on Hurd is celebrating Class of 2017 graduates on May 20th in downtown Edmond. At the corner of Broadway and Hurd, attendees, including graduates and their families, will be able to enjoy three live local bands, nearly 60 food and artisan vendors and a Kids Area filled with entertainment for the little ones. During this month’s event, attendees can hear the soulful pop vocals of Bryce Merritt, the pop/new wave vibes of Saint Loretto, and singer/songwriter Rozlyn Zora.

“Graduation is a time of celebrating achievement for our area schools and we’re proud to be able to host a festival where families coming from afar can have a taste of all that Edmond and the Oklahoma City metro area has to offer,” said Heard on Hurd creator and President and CEO of Citizens Bank Jill Castilla. “Attendees will be able to experience eclectic cuisines, shop at artisan merchants and share family time with the kiddos rocking out to music and in the Kids Area.”

This month, the Citizens Bank of Edmond lobby will feature a “Class of 2017” art wall where graduates can sign their names and represent their colleges with a drawing. Giant games and comfortable seating will be available as well as a few surprises. Heard on Hurd will also feature street performers at the festival. This month’s street performance will feature a few of Edmond Santa Fe High School’s Orchestra members who are raising money for a London trip. They will be performing at 7 p.m. at the intersection of Main and Broadway.

Food enthusiasts will be able to enjoy food from Babalu Cuban Cuisine, Bacon N’ Cakin’, Big O’s BBQ, BlueJ’s Rollin’ Grill, Buddy’s Place, Cajun Catfish and Po-Boys, Chef Ray’s Street Eats, Deb’s Coffee, dOughMG, Eddie’s Wings on Wheels, Jerky.com, Klemm’s Smoke Haus, Kona Ice, La Gumbo Ya Ya, Lalo’s I Love My Taco Chop and Grill, Let’s Do Greek, Mama’s Square Ice Cream, Mutt’s Amazing Hot Dogs, Othello’s Cream Pies, Phill Me Up Cheesesteaks, Smokin’ Okies, Snow S’more, Sugar Shack Sweets and Treats, Taste of Soul Egg Roll, The Brown’s Kitchen, The Flying Pig BBQ, The Fried Taco, The Loaded Bowl, The Saucee Sicilian, Uptown Candy, and Yum Yum Bites.

Fifteen percent of alcohol purchased from the Patriarch and Bricktown Brewery as well as official Heard on Hurd merchandise purchased at Tack Designs will be donated to the Edmond Public Schools Foundation. Last year, attendees raised $9,000 to benefit local schools.

Pop up shops this month feature local artisans including 1219 Designs, 405 Mobile Boutique, Bizzy Bands, Cargo Room, Earth Works Designs OKC, Gypsy Sol Boutique, Kaleidoscope OKC, Outsyde Adventure Co, Paper Arts Edmond, Pet Wants Edmond, Plenty Mercantile, Simpson Shirt Co., Three Dog Bakery, and Wolfsburg Photo Company. The Kids Area this month will feature fun activities including games from i9 Sports, face painting, princesses from Project Princess, balloon animals from Connect UMC, music from Spy FM, bird houses from TWO Structures Homes and a comfort station for new moms and families with young ones from Edmond Birthing Center.
