Labor Dept. issues leave guidance for coronavirus law

Mar 25, 2020

The Labor Department released guidance on how employees and employers may use the protections and relief under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act when it takes effect April 1.

The law offers American businesses with fewer than 500 employees funds to provide employees with paid leave for their own health needs or to care for family members.

The guidance addresses questions such as how employers determine coverage; how small businesses can obtain an exemption; how to count hours for part-time employees; and how to calculate wages.
