Federal regulators reported
that 2,251 Home Mortgage Disclosure Act reporters used the S. 2155 regulatory relief law's partial exemptions for at least one of the 26 eligible data points over the past year. They account for about 425,000 records and 298,000 originations.
That information was contained in 2018 data on mortgage lending transactions at 5,683 U.S. financial institutions covered by HMDA. Overall, the number of reporting institutions declined 2.9 percent in 2018 from the previous year, while the number of originated loans decreased 12.6 percent.
