CFPB Settles with Payday Lender

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced a settlement with Cash Tyme, a payday retail lender with outlets in the South and Midwest.

The lender failed to prevent unauthorized charges, address consumer overpayments, and provide required privacy notices, the bureau said.

Among the provisions of the consent order, Cash Tyme must pay a $100,000 civil money penalty.
