Steven Estep Named Director of Operational Risk
Washington, D.C. (Nov. 5, 2019)—The Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA) announced today that Steven Estep has joined government relations as director of operational risk. In this role, Estep will support ICBA advocacy strategy and coordinate efforts related to cybersecurity, data security, third-party relationships and business continuity.
“Steven’s background in threat assessment and crisis communications will serve community banks well as ICBA works with key stakeholders to strengthen our nation’s financial sector infrastructure and guard against cyberattacks,” said Karen Thomas, ICBA senior executive vice president of government relations and public policy. “Data and cyber security are key policy priorities for ICBA and community banks so bringing Steven on board will help ICBA as we continue to amplify our critical efforts in this space.”
Estep previously worked at the Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC) where he managed its Business Resilience Committee, which works to ensure business continuity within the financial services sector through coordinated information sharing. During his tenure at FS-ISAC, Estep also served as a senior research and communications specialist focusing on member communications on cybersecurity policy and regulation, crisis response playbooks and executive communications.
Estep holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations and Asian studies from Colgate University.
