Pride and Optimism

I begin today as ICBA president and CEO filled with pride and optimism. I am proud of what ICBA and community bankers have accomplished and optimistic about what lies ahead.

Today is particularly special because we have taken another step toward meaningful community bank regulatory relief by delivering our S. 2155 petition to the House of Representatives. The petition of more than 10,000 community bank employees and allies urges immediate passage of the bipartisan Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief and Consumer Protection Act, which has already passed the Senate.

Community bankers have shown time and time again that we are willing to stand up and speak out for what is right for our local communities. And with substantial regulatory relief within our grasp, it is up to us to finish the job. So let’s continue our push by using ICBA’s Be Heard grassroots action center to contact our representatives directly and urge immediate passage of S. 2155.

I am proud of what we’ve achieved so far, but we’re going to have to keep fighting for it. Our customers and communities are depending on it. So, let’s dig deep, keep pushing, and finish what we started, community bankers!
