ICBA Welcomes Michael Emancipator as Assistant Vice President, Regulatory Counsel

Washington, D.C. (Feb. 22, 2018)—The Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA) announced today that Michael Emancipator has joined the organization as assistant vice president and regulatory counsel. Emancipator will focus on consumer protection laws and regulations under the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s jurisdiction.

“As the driving force behind meaningful advocacy for the nation’s community banks, ICBA is pleased to welcome Michael to the ICBA team as we work to advance community bank policy positions with key federal regulatory agencies and policymakers,” said Viveca Ware ICBA’s group executive vice president for regulatory policy. “Michael’s advocacy experience and ability to affect meaningful change will greatly benefit ICBA and community banks across the nation.”

Emancipator most recently served as senior regulatory affairs counsel for the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions. He also previously served as an assistant vice president at Callahan & Associates, a credit union data analytics firm. Additionally, he was first executive director of Advanced Energy District, a Cleveland Heights, Ohio based-firm focused on developing renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements for local businesses.

Emancipator holds a Bachelor of Arts from Denison University in Granville, Ohio; a J.D from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland; and is a member of the Ohio Bar Association.
