Take Action on Deposit Coverage Over Recess

Grassroots Urgent on FDIC Transaction Account Insurance

With Congress returning home over the next two weeks, ICBA is calling on community bankers to contact their lawmakers’ district offices to urge an extension of full FDIC coverage of noninterest-bearing transaction accounts (“TAG”). Time is running out to extend the coverage for more than $1.4 trillion in deposits—the upcoming elections are sapping Congress’ time and attention. Please urge your lawmakers to act promptly to extend this important insurance coverage, which allows community banks to attract and keep local deposits and their local small business customers.
