| Durable-Goods Orders Up on Transportation |
|
Durable-goods orders increased 4.2 percent in July, the third consecutive monthly increase, according to the Commerce Department. Orders were up on strong demand for transportation equipment, which was up 14.1 percent. Excluding transportation, new orders decreased 0.4 percent.
