OCC Ditches Outdated Documents

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency released a list of documents it has rescinded as part of its effort to integrate national bank and thrift guidelines. The list includes the rescinded documents, the documents that supersede them and why the document was rescinded. Read the List.

Economy

Durable-Goods Orders Up on Transportation

Durable-goods orders increased 4.2 percent in July, the third consecutive monthly increase, according to the Commerce Department. Orders were up on strong demand for transportation equipment, which was up 14.1 percent. Excluding transportation, new orders decreased 0.4 percent.

Key Indicators Out Ahead of Jackson Hole

Capitol Hill is quiet again this week as members of Congress are home, or in Tampa, for the final week of the August recess. But stay tuned for a week chock full of important economic indicator releases, including the Case-Shiller home price indexes tomorrow, the Federal Reserve’s Beige Book Wednesday, and personal income and spending data Thursday. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke caps the week Friday with remarks from Jackson Hole, Wyo., on monetary policy since the crisis.
