ICBA Bancard to Launch Charitable Giving Platform with FIS

Washington, D.C. (Nov. 28, 2017)—ICBA Bancard, the payments services subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), announced as part of Giving Tuesday, that it has teamed up with financial technology leader FIS to offer the FIS Charitable Giving platform to ICBA Bancard clients. The turnkey donation solution, facilitates charitable giving for cardholders through an easy-to-use online portal that seamlessly integrates with their banking experience.

“Community banks are always looking for ways to give back to their communities,” ICBA Bancard President and CEO Tina Giorgio said. “Through ICBA Bancard’s new charitable giving platform, community bank customers will have an opportunity to give to the causes they care about via an online payments platform.” 

Last year Americans donated roughly $390 billion to charitable causes, according to the Giving USA Annual Report on Philanthropy. Yet only seven percent of payments were made online. “This offering provides a tremendous opportunity to move these transactions to the web as more banking customers rely on mobile devices to conduct financial transactions,” Giorgio said.

Cardholders can choose from more than 1.8 million charities for a one-time or recurring payment. A one-click reporting feature will give cardholders greater efficiency and transparency of their charitable donations. ICBA Bancard FIS debit and credit card clients can add charities to the platform and run matching campaigns, strengthening ties to their local causes. They can also access turnkey marketing materials to help promote the giving platform to current and prospective cardholders.

“Community banks can leverage the giving platform to raise awareness for specific charities or disaster relief programs,” said Bob Legters, chief product officer, FIS Payments. “Community banks will also have the opportunity to create a charitable matching campaign with their customers, which is yet another way for community banks to serve their communities while differentiating themselves to cardholders.”

The platform is expected to go live for ICBA Bancard clients in December. ICBA Bancard is offering free implementation to the first 100 credit card-issuing banks to sign up for the service.
