ICBA’s Too-Big-To-Fail Ad Wins Gold Pollie Award

San Diego, Calif. (March 29, 2011)-The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) today announced that its nationally recognized too-big-to-fail advocacy advertisement, featuring "The Giant," won a 2011 Gold Pollie Award for "Best Newspaper Ad - Less Than Full Page."  This is the second award for the ad, which was created with the Adfero Group, a Washington, D.C.-based public affairs firm.

"ICBA is thrilled to receive this prestigious recognition for a powerful and memorable campaign image," said Karen Tyson, ICBA senior vice president of communications. "The ad was an important component in our advocacy efforts to alert the public to the dangers of too-big-to-fail institutions."

Presented by the American Association of Political Consultants (AAPC), the Pollie Awards are the oldest awards competition aimed at the political and public affairs community. Winners are selected as the "best of the best" in political communications by a blind jury of their peers. Esquire magazine has called the Pollies, "the Oscars of political advertising."

ICBA's too-big-to-fail ad was created as part of a 2009-10 national campaign to educate policymakers and the public about the negative consequences associated with too-big-to-fail during the debate over financial regulatory reform.

AAPC is the largest association of political and public affairs professionals in the world and began presenting the Pollie Awards in 1993. In April 2010, ICBA's too-big-to-fail ad won a Bronze SABRE for advertising from the Holmes Report.
