ICBA Announces Winner of “I’m A Community Banker Because…” Campaign
Washington, D.C. (October 26, 2010)-The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) today announced the winner of its "I'm A Community Banker Because..." campaign, which was launched on Sept. 1. Vice President of Bank of Clarendon in Manning, S.C., Will Buyck Jr.'s response about why he's proud to be a community banker was selected from over 500 that ICBA received during the one-month campaign.
"I'm empowered to make decisions that are right for both the customer and the bank because Main Street is a two-way street," said Buyck in his submission. "We value each and every customer, not just the bottom line."
This first phase of the "I'm A Community Banker Because..." campaign asks ICBA member community banks to explain why they are proud to be community bankers and what they do to serve the needs of their customers and communities.
"ICBA congratulates Mr. Buyck for his winning submission. We are beyond pleased with the overwhelming response we received from our member community bankers who are proud to be part of this great industry," said Chris Lorence, ICBA senior vice president of marketing. ICBA is continuing the campaign throughout the next year as part of its efforts to tell the positive story of common-sense community banks and the critical role they serve in preserving Main Street America.
The results will be used in ICBA marketing campaigns to educate policymakers, consumers and small businesses on the importance of community banks and their role in both serving and rebuilding their communities during this critical time.
