ICBA Calls for Nominations to Annual National Community Bank Service Awards
Member Community Banks Recognized for Unparalleled Acts of Community Service
Washington, D.C. (Nov. 7, 2007)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) is calling for nominations for the ICBA National Community Bank Service Awards. Each year, ICBA recognizes community banks for their extraordinary works of community service: commitment to financial literacy programs, repairing homes, riding bikes to raise money, revitalizing Main Street and many others.
"The ICBA National Community Bank Service Awards recognize the good works community banks perform for the communities they serve - they are a true mark of achievement," said James P. Ghiglieri, Jr., ICBA chairman and president of Alpha Financial Group, Inc., Toluca, Ill. "I encourage all of our ICBA community bank members to step forward and be recognized for their good works."
Nominations for the program are being accepted through December 20, 2007. Anyone can nominate a community bank community service program or a community bank can nominate its own program. ICBA member banks are recognized in four (4) categories based on bank asset size with one national award recipient in each category. ICBA recognizes one national award recipient for financial literacy. In addition, one Grand National Award recipient is honored for demonstrating extraordinary commitment to their local community by creating and participating in local service programs.
Award recipients will be announced at the ICBA National Convention and Techworld to be held March 2-6, 2008 in Orlando, Fla.
ICBA developed the National Community Bank Service Awards as part of ICBA Community Banking Month to recognize the outstanding volunteer efforts of community banks. ICBA Community Banking Month, observed nationwide every April, celebrates community banks and their customers for all they do to keep America's communities strong and vital.
