ICBA Hires Two to Work with Congress and the Media

Washington, D.C. (October 12, 2005) - The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) hired two new staff team members to help the association carry the message about the vital work of the nation's community banks.

Tony Jackson joined ICBA as legislative counsel. William J. "Bill" Grassano is the new associate director of communications.

Jackson's primary responsibilities are to further develop and strengthen the association's relationship with Congress on behalf of the nation's independent community banks. "We're delighted to have Tony join our team. His prior work with agricultural issues and community banking will provide invaluable expertise to the nation's community bankers," said Karen Thomas, ICBA executive vice president of government relations. Before joining ICBA, Jackson served as assistant counsel to the Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee on Capitol Hill.

Grassano's primary responsibilities are to further strengthen ICBA's media relations. "Bill's 15 years of experience as a reporter and his understanding of government and business are a great combination," said Karen Tyson, ICBA senior vice president and director of communications. "His enthusiasm for the cause of community banking will serve ICBA and its members well." Prior to joining ICBA, Grassano was a senior communications manager with Freddie Mac.
