ICBA Announces Management Promotions

Washington, D.C. (December 7, 2009)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) announced the promotion of several management staff, including the promotions of Executive Vice President, Government Relations Karen Thomas to senior executive vice president, government relations and public policy and chairman of the government relations policy council; and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Mark Raitor to senior executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief of staff.

Fine, ICBA president and CEO. “During a year of immense turbulence and change within the financial sector, it’s clearer than ever that the experience and talent of ICBA’s staff is unmatched in serving the needs of community banks.”

In her new role, Thomas will oversee all of ICBA government relations and advocacy efforts. Raitor will oversee and coordinate all of the administrative functions for ICBA. In addition to Thomas and Raitor, those promoted were:

Government Relations:
Steve Verdier, senior vice president, congressional relations group was promoted to executive vice president, congressional relations group.
Chris Cole, vice president and senior regulatory counsel was promoted to senior vice president and senior regulatory counsel.
Elizabeth Eurgubian, regulatory counsel was promoted to vice president and regulatory counsel.
Lilly Thomas, regulatory counsel was promoted to vice president and regulatory counsel.
Cary Whaley, director, payments and technology policy was promoted to vice president, payments and technology policy.
Aaron Stetter, director, congressional relations and grassroots outreach was promoted to vice president, congressional relations and grassroots outreach.
Brian Anderson, manager, grassroots outreach was promoted to director, grassroots outreach.

Education:
Runay Olson, director, education seminars was promoted to vice president, education seminars.
Marlee Melville, director, education products was promoted to vice president, education products.

Communications:
Thomas Warren, assistant director, communications was promoted to associate director, communications.
