Rappaport Joins ICBA as Director of Congressional Relations
Washington, D.C. (July 9, 2008)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) announced that Renee Rappaport has joined the association as director of congressional relations.
“Renee will contribute to ICBA’s overall advocacy efforts and focus attention on housing and related issues that are critical to community banks and their customers,” said Karen Thomas, ICBA executive vice president and director of government relations. “Renee’s experience and reputation on Capitol Hill are outstanding. ICBA is delighted to have her working on our behalf with Congress on legislation to help community banks and the communities they serve.”
Rappaport previously served as a senior director of government affairs with the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, where she managed multiple issue campaigns. Prior to joining MBA, Rappaport was a lobbyist for the National Association of Home Builders. She also has experience on Capitol Hill having served two years with former Rep. Mike Espy (D-Miss.) and six years with former Sen. Richard Bryan (D-Nev.).
Rappaport holds a Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern University in Boston and did graduate work at Pennsylvania State University.
