ICBA Bancard Introduces Anti-Fraud Electronic Newsletter

Community Banks Take Steps to Further Protect Customers

Washington, D.C. (April 11, 2007)—ICBA Bancard, a subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America, introduced a new electronic newsletter, "Fraud Quarterly," to give community bankers a resource to help them identify and prevent bank fraud.

"We're offering our community bank clients the latest information and techniques to detect and prevent fraud," said Charles Saeman, ICBA Bancard chairman and president and CEO of State Bank of Cross Plains, Wis. "Understanding and knowing the latest tricks perpetrated by fraudsters will help community banks prevent fraud from occurring in the first place."

The new electronic newsletter focuses on the Internet, card fraud, identity theft and a range of other potential risk areas. The first issue, which is available to ICBA Bancard client banks, features articles about handling credit cards during "card-not-present" transactions; a new twist on "phishing" using voice-over Internet phone calls, dubbed "vishing,"and 10 steps community banks can take to protect their customers against identity theft.

Each quarterly digest will highlight current industry fraud patterns and best practices; statistical data allowing members to analyze and compare their own loss experiences; and risk products offered through ICBA Bancard's card processing partners, Fidelity Information Services (FIS) and Fiserv EFT.

"Fraud Quarterly adds another tool in our tool box that helps card issuers have access to the latest solutions to prevent fraud and help protect the payments system."
