Wisconsin Community Banker Appointed to FASB Advisory Committee

Washington, D.C. (March 24, 2004) - The Independent Community Bankers of America congratulates Charles Saeman, president and CEO of State Bank of Cross Plains, Wis., and a longtime ICBA member, on his appointment to the Financial Accounting Standards Board's new Small Business Advisory Committee.

The FASB has established the Small Business Advisory Committee to increase involvement by the small business community in the development of U.S. accounting standards. Committee members will be a resource to the FASB in providing additional and ongoing input on accounting issues before the board.

As a banker, Saeman's market is highly developed with a substantial segment of small business entities. "Approximately two-thirds of the State Bank of Cross Plains loans are to small business enterprises," said Camden Fine, president and CEO of ICBA. "Mr. Saeman also serves as chairman of ICBA's Lending Committee, a group of community bankers who focus on lending and accounting issues. These qualifications make him an excellent representative of active users of small business financial statements."

Saeman is one of many ICBA members who serve on various key government and industry panels, including those shaping the future of banking, payments and homeownership. "Community bankers across the country give much of their time and talents to many productive organizations and causes," said Fine, a former community banker from Missouri. "Many community bankers are taking their service-minded ways to the national level. Charles Saeman is a wonderful example of the kind of civic commitment community bankers provide throughout the country every day. He will be a great resource for the FASB."
