ICBA Invited to White House Signing of Small Business Jobs and Credit Act

Washington, D.C. (September 27, 2010)-The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA)  was invited to attend today's White House signing of the  Small Business Jobs and Credit Act (H.R. 5297) on behalf of the nation's Main Street community banks.

"ICBA is honored to represent community banks at today's White House signing of this pivotal and long-awaited legislation. This new law will give our nation's nearly 8,000 community banks the opportunity to further serve their local small business customers and continue to aid Main Street's economic recovery during this critical time," said Camden R. Fine, president and CEO of ICBA.  "ICBA urges bank regulators to quickly implement the program and get much-needed capital into the hands of small business owners."

The new law, which ICBA vigorously advocated for, establishes a $30 billion Small Business Lending Fund (SBLF) for interested community banks to expand small business lending and also includes beneficial Small Business Administration (SBA) program lending incentives and small business tax cuts.  The law will allow interested community banks to further support the needs of local small businesses and help create jobs, promote economic stability and bring prosperity back to America's Main Street communities."
