ICBA National Convention Kicks Off 75th Anniversary Celebration

San Antonio, Texas (March 9, 2005) - The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), the nation's largest banking trade organization, kicks off its 75th anniversary celebration in San Antonio, Texas, today with the ICBA National Convention and Techworld.

The convention is the largest educational gathering of community bank executives and an annual favorite among ICBA members. This year's convention will feature over 80 workshop sessions and more than 200 exhibitors.

An impressive lineup of banking newsmakers, including U.S. Secretary of the Treasury John W. Snow, Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan, FDIC Chairman Donald Powell, Acting Comptroller of the Currency Julie Williams and FinCEN Director William J. Fox are among the speakers scheduled to headline the event.

Ambassador L. Paul Bremer III, former presidential envoy to Iraq and administrator of the Coalition Provision Authority in Iraq from May 2003 - June 2004, will address the general session, giving a rare and fascinating glimpse into America's effort to protect Iraq's future and make the world more secure. Commander Scott Waddle, author of "The Right Thing," a riveting tale of success and lessons for business professionals trying to navigate today's uncertain seas, will also take the stage to share the message that "Failure Need Not Be Final," and explain how to grow from business mistakes.

"Convention is always a special time, but this year is particularly special, with our 75th anniversary celebrations," said Dale Leighty, chairman of the ICBA and president and chairman of First National Bank of Las Animas, Colo. "I think our members will be impressed by the excellent educational and networking opportunities available, and the anniversary celebrations we have planned."

ICBA was founded in 1930 with just 28 members. Today, the association has nearly 5,000 members, and its annual convention typically draws over 3,000 attendees.
