ICBA’s Too-Big-To-Fail Ad Wins Prestigious SABRE Award

Ad Embodies ICBA’s Advocacy Agenda of Ending Too-Big-To-Fail

Washington, D.C. (April 6, 2010)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) today announced that its nationally recognized too-big-to-fail advocacy advertisement, featuring “The Giant,” is the winner of the bronze SABRE award for advertising by the Holmes Report. ICBA was selected from among more than 1,600 entries to this year’s North American Awards competition.

“ICBA is extremely honored with this recognition—especially for an advertisement that embodies ICBA’s advocacy agenda of putting an end to the flawed approach of too-big-to-fail,” said Karen Tyson, ICBA senior vice president of communications. “ICBA thanks the Holmes Report for this distinguished honor and our partners at Adfero for helping us develop such a powerful and memorable image for this campaign.”

ICBA’s too-big-to-fail ad was created in conjunction with the Adfero Group, a Washington, D.C.,-based public-affairs firm. The ad is part of a national campaign to educate policymakers and the public about the negative consequences associated with too-big-to-fail and the need to rein in the nation’s giant too-big-to-fail institutions through meaningful financial regulatory reform. The ad portrays Wall Street as the greedy giant who is “shaking down” America’s taxpayers for the privilege of being too-big-to-fail. In the ad, ICBA communicates that the shakedown must stop to protect taxpayers and the future of our economy and that community banks exist to protect and provide for the “little guy” in thousands of cities, towns and rural areas across the nation.

The SABRE Awards are sponsored by Paul Holmes, the publisher of The Holmes Report, to recognize Superior Achievement in Branding and Reputation. SABRE Awards are given in four categories including Gold (campaign awards), Silver (awards by industry), Bronze (public relations tactics) and Iron (public relations industry programs and products). The programs honored represent the best work of the public relations industry during 2010.
