ICBA Reinsurance Elects New Officers

Washington, D.C. (Jan. 27, 2005) - ICBA Reinsurance, a subsidiary of the Independent Community Bankers of America, offering community banks access to new opportunities on the credit life and disability insurance for their customers, elected its chairman and treasurer for 2005 at the company's bi-annual meeting in Charleston, S.C.

James M. Goetz, chairman and CEO of Security First Bank of North Dakota in Center, N.D., was elected to his third term as chairman of ICBA Reinsurance. Goetz brings almost 40 years of banking experience to the position. In 1980, he co-founded Security Bank of Oliver County and served as its President and CEO until the bank merged with Security First Bank of North Dakota in April 2000.

Goetz has also served on the ICBA Bank Services Committee, the ICBA Policy Development and the ICBA Long Term Planning Committees over the last 15 years as an ICBA member. In addition, Goetz serves as a board member of the ICBA Services Network.

"I've worked with Jim for many years and know that he will continue to bring insightful and innovative ideas to ICBA Reinsurance's programs and services," said Stephen A. Ello, ICBA Reinsurance president and CEO. "His commitment and tireless devotion to community banking and ICBA are invaluable."

Gof Thomson, chairman of the Bank of New Glarus in New Glarus, Wis., was named treasurer of the ICBA Reinsurance board. He is also a member of the Bank Services Committee and chaired ICBA's Regulatory Review Committee for six years. Thomson is currently serving on the Legislative Committee for Community Bankers of Wisconsin. In 1999 he was named Wisconsin Banker of the Year.

Other ICBA Reinsurance directors include James E. Caspary, president of First National Bank of Clifton in Clifton, Ill; Robert C. Fricke, president of Farmers & Merchants National Bank in Ashland, Neb.; A. Pierce Stone, chairman, president and CEO of Virginia Community Bank in Louisa, Va.; and Stephen A. Ello, president and CEO of ICBA Reinsurance.
