Aleis Stokes Joins ICBA as Director of Public Relations
Washington, D.C. (Dec. 3, 2008)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) today announced that Aleis Stokes has joined ICBA as director of public relations. In her role, Stokes' primary responsibilities include further strengthening ICBA's media relations efforts to better communicate ICBA's policy positions and the positive story of community banks.
“Aleis' years of experience as a public affairs specialist in the financial services industry will be a great asset to the association,” said Karen Tyson, ICBA senior vice president of communications. “Her enthusiasm for consumer and community banking issues will help ICBA continue to raise awareness of the vital role that our country's nearly 8,000 community banks play within our financial system, our economy and the lives of people and businesses in towns and cities throughout America.”
Prior to joining ICBA, Stokes worked for the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) where she was responsible for various media relations and public affairs efforts, including serving as media contact for the HOPE NOW Alliance and managing MBA's annual National Homeownership Month public relations campaign.
Stokes holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations from The Pennsylvania State University.
