Former ICBA Executive Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award

Washington, D.C. (Dec. 1, 2004) -T he Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) congratulates Kenneth A. Guenther, its former chief executive, for receiving the American Banker newspaper's Lifetime Achievement Award today.

American Banker honored Guenther, who retired earlier this year after nearly 25 years of service to ICBA, for turning the association and its community banks into a formidable lobbying force throughout Washington, D.C.

"ICBA congratulates Ken Guenther for this well-deserved recognition for a remarkable career of service to the nation's community banks," said ICBA President and CEO Camden R. Fine, a former community banker. "Ken's integrity and persistence will be long remembered. Nobody has done more over the years to assure a vibrant and strong community banking industry, the foundation of America's economic prosperity and individual liberty."

The editors of American Banker selected all the honorees of publication's Banker of the Year Awards, including the lifetime achievement award Guenther received. A Special Report titled "Best in Banking 2004" will showcase all of 2004 award honorees in the Dec. 2, 2004 edition of the newspaper.
