FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ICBA National Community Bank Mortgage Week Launches November 5

Community Banks Nationwide Participate Nov. 5-9

WHAT:

ICBA National Community Bank Mortgage Week

Participating community banks will review mortgage documents of current homeowners, discuss financing options with first-time homebuyers who see an opportunity to own their own home, and help current homeowners looking to purchase new homes or to refinance existing mortgages. ICBA National Community Bank Mortgage Week is a community service provided by participating community banks.

WHEN: Monday, November 5 through Friday, November 9, 2007

WHERE: Your local community bank. For journalists who want to locate a participating community bank in your city please contact Bill Grassano at bill.grassano@icba.org. Consumers can find a participating community bank by visiting www.icba.org/mortgageweek and using ICBA’s searchable database.

WHO: ICBA salutes our business partners for ICBA National Community Bank Mortgage Week who help community banks serve their customers: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Federal Home Loan Banks and Taylor Bean & Whitaker, and our national non-profit partners NeighborWorks® America and the Homeownership Preservation Foundation.

WHY: There is a lot of confusion about mortgages and home buying right now. ICBA and community banks nationwide want to help clear up some of the confusion. ICBA National Community Bank Mortgage Week is a great time for current homeowners and prospective homebuyers to visit their participating local community bank and discuss financing options. Community banks are well-run, highly capitalized and closely regulated. They are common sense lenders who observe quality underwriting and who will help borrowers find a mortgage that is right for them.
