ICBA Teams with Congress to Raise Funds for Local Tutoring and Mentoring Programs
Washington, D.C. (September 7, 2006)—The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) is teaming up with members of Congress and other trade groups in sponsoring the eighth annual Hoops for Hope Charity All-Star Classic, Lawmakers and Lobbyists Hoopin’-It-Up for a Brighter Tomorrow, a special event to raise money for deserving kids in Washington, D.C.
“ICBA is honored to be a part of this year’s cooperative effort that unites organizations across the political spectrum to raise money for truly outstanding organizations that make a difference in the nation’s capital and beyond,” said Camden R. Fine, ICBA president and CEO. “We are looking forward to this outstanding event.”
All funds raised go toward helping Horton's Kids, a nonprofit tutoring and mentoring organization that strives to help underprivileged children in the Washington area; Hill Help, a nonprofit, nonpartisan volunteer organization devoted to serving the needy in the District of Columbia; and the Luke Tiahrt Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping youth in Kansas.
Hoops for Hope features two basketball games, one with congressional staff and the other with lawmakers. The event will be held at the George Washington University Smith Center on Tuesday, September 12. Game One tip off is 6 p.m. and Game Two starts at 7:30 p.m.
